Future Politician :)

Last summer, I told Andrew he was going to apply for a Student Council position this year. The operative word here is "told". He didn't want to do it and I felt like I was forcing him but I knew he would be great at it. He was selected as one of only a few 7th graders to serve on the Student Council. Little did I know he would excel at it! We received a list of positions that Student Council members could run for and Andrew decided to run for Snack Shack Manager. Snack Shack is the closest thing our school has to a lunchroom. It's basically a kiosk and kids can purchase anything from soup to a corndog to ice-cream. The food isn't terribly nutritious but at least the school hasn't caved into McDonald's or Pizza Hut; both of those chains provide food service to the larger schools in our area. The school has the kids conduct a campaign for Student Council positions and even make an election speech! It has been the coolest experience for Andrew so far. We have spent the past week designing campaign posters, coming up with catchy campaign slogans, making "vote for Andrew" buttons, distributing candy that says "vote for Andrew" and making t-shirts which I proudly designed and produced myself using my color printer and an iron transfer kit (see photos where the kids are wearing their shirts). I made 6 shirts so Andrew could distribute some to his friends to wear around campus. I am really getting into this! I think I would make a good campaign manager :) The only catch so far is that Andrew appears to be a Democrat and a very liberal one at that (I don't know, maybe he was switched at birth) and also we disagreed over a few of his campaign promises but the good news is he is running unopposed... yes that's right, you either vote for Andrew or, well, there's no other option.
